Swagbucks Rumours

Search & WinSwagbucks has a bonus code out for new signups, you get 30SBs for joining and a bonus 30SBs when you enter the code JoinIn2010.  450SBs gets you a $5 gift card to Amazon.com or Amazon.ca so 60SBs is an amazing start!

Holiday-BucksStarting Monday 20 December, there will be a new collector bills promo.  The swagbucks holiday bills can be collected anytime between Monday afternoon and December 31st.   If you manage to collect them all while searching in this time period, you get 50SBs bonus paid in January.

There is not currently any confirmation on the denomination of the winning bills and its a little hard to tell from the picture, but I am sure we will know fairly quickly on Monday.

Each day, TSG chooses a couple of people who tweet #swagbucks to win 100SBs but during this promo, it will be people who tweet #swagbucks with a screenshot of their special buck winnings who win 200SBs!

And now onto the rumours!

A little birdie told me that from January 1st – March 31st, swagbucks is offering matching SBs for all swag earnings – special offers, surveys, games, SBTV etc as well as searching.  While search referral bucks will still be paid to you in real time, the other matching bucks will be paid out after the promo (as in the case of the promo when SBTV was introduced) – makes me very happy for my recent referrals.

Amazon, is it worth it?

Amazon.ca is usually overpriced compared to other online retailers and I often see people on Swagbucks‘ Facebook Wall asking if it is worth it since the price is more.  You can collect $5 Paypal payments at 700 SBs each but unlike the Amazon cards, where a $5 card is 450SBs, you can’t buy $25 or $50 cards when you have reached your maximum limit for the month.

So to me, its better to spend the little extra on something you are essentially getting for free (and if your time is that valuable, spend it working and not on Swagbucks!) and use Amazon where you can get more stuff than to save for ages to get the Paypal money, spending more of your swagbucks and months longer to save.

Amazon Delays

Using the Amazon.ca Gift Cards I ordered with my swagbucks, I pre-ordered Sims 3 for Wii a few weeks ago, it was supposed to be mailed on Wednesday but I got home to an email saying it was delayed until at least mid December.

Not happy so I have cancelled my order but now I feel the need to spend those gift cards since they were gone anyway but can’t find anything I want enough to spend them on so I am thinking of waiting for the next batch to come in at the beginning of December and get a new monitor so M can have this one, since he still has one of those big ones instead of a flat screen.

But ~sad face~ Amazon & Sims!!

Thanks Canada Talk Now!

Canada Talk Now is a survey company I am a member of and they recently tweeted the results of one of their polls, that in early November it is just too early for all the Christmas stuff. I know I am a grinch and I just do not want to think about Christmas until December even though I have to get cards to the UK in time for Christmas lol

The poll results can be read here (pdf): http://www.itracks.com/images/stories/TNP_Christmas.pdf

I retweeted it and received a cute little thank you gift from them yesterday (probably the only good thing about yesterday, which started off with the fire alarm going off at 5:30 am, got oh so much better with trains being late both ways and thick fog and an audit at work)

These cute little postits are now stuck on the side of my monitor :)

CTN

Amazon.ca

As I mentioned on Monday, I ordered an ink cartridge and microSD card from Amazon using gift cards I redeemed at swagbucks.  The estimated date of delivery was ‘up to Nov 3rd’ so I didn’t think much of it when I received a delivery notice card in the mail yesterday saying they tried to deliver a package (well apart from anger at Canada Post since I was working at home all day).

Much to my surprise, it was not the package I thought I would be receiving which arrived today, but my Amazon order, with SuperSaver shipping arriving in less than 48 hours from the time of order which was on the weekend.

Amazing customer service considering I chose the free shipping

Vote, vote and free?

What a great way to start the week…

Today is Election Day, I am often working at a polling station or canvassing or helping people from retirement centres etc, but not this year so I get to sit back and just watch the election.

Quincy moved into 7th place in the contest he is in, thank you all so much for voting.  There is a week left and you can vote for him here

And I finally gave into the temptation to hoard my swagbucks.  Wind finally got back to me and for whatever reason, you can’t use shortform codes to sign up for twitter but they are working on it.  The signal in my office which is usually poor is great so I think I will be keeping it ($45 a month for unlimited calls in area and internet, although I may have to bump it up to a higher net plan at some point, I am watching my MBs carefully).   So my BF is using my old phone, he used to have a simple just for calls phone but has learned of the delights of having a camera, internet, games and music on a phone so I can’t just grab my microSD card out of there.

I was going to go to Best Buy and use the gift card I won from iCoke but I am too lazy to go over there so thought I would shell out some of my Amazon gift cards earned from Swagbucks and surveys and order there.  I only bought a 4gb since all the 8gb with free shipping were out of stock and I can just take my old 8gb one back and let him use the 4gb.  I am almost out of ink, so a cartridge for my printer too, and including tax, $41 and change and I did not pay one penny in actual cash.

Dust

Dust by Joan Turner was released in stores last month and is the latest in zombie / undead books.

What happens between death and life can change a girl. Jessie is a zombie. And this is her story…
Nine years ago, Jessie was in a car crash and died. After she was buried, she awoke and tore through the earth to arise, reborn, as a zombie. Now Jessie’s part of a gang. They fight, hunt, and dance together as one-something humans can never understand. There are darkplaces humans have learned to avoid, lest they run into zombie gangs. But when a mysterious illness threatens the existence of both zombies and humans, Jessie must choose between looking away or staring down the madness-and hanging on to everything she now knows as life…

Chapter 1 Excerpt (download full excerpt (50 pages) courtesy of bzzagent here)

My right arm fell off today. Lucky for me, I’m left-handed.

In the accident that killed me I rocketed from the backseat straight through the windshield—no seat belt, yeah, I know—and the pavement sheared my arm to nothing below the shoulder. Not torn off, but dangling by thin, precious little bits of skin and bone and ligament. I had a closed casket, I’m sure of it, because they never wired the arm or glued it or any other pretty undertaker trick. I managed to crawl back out of the ground without its help anyway, and of course after nine perfectly uneventful years of fighting and dancing and hunting and getting by fine with the left arm, the right finally shuffles its coil right on the banks of the Great River County Park’s not-so-Great River, smack in the middle of a meat run.

Joe, my boy, my backup, was not sympathetic in the least. “You’re shaking,” he muttered, as he led the gang along the riverbank, through the clearing that used to be the park playground. “Your arm’s shaking, look. Is the big mean pointyheaded deer that scary?”

Dust is available from Chapters/Indigo/Coles for $19.44 with an iRewards card in hardcover

I love my SPC card

The Student Price Card is obviously meant for students, but they have a promo each year where you can get a VIP one to use without a student ID but get all the same discounts.

You get 10-15% off in partner stores, and I took advantage of this today at Zellers.  I seen a cute pair of shoes there I wanted and they were B1G1 50% off so of course we had to buy a second pair of shoes so my BF has a new pair of cheapo shoes to keep in the truck for when he is on muddy jobsites.  His shoes were $20 and mine were $15 so we got both for $27.50 – 10% = $24.75 plus tax.

As well we bought family size box of Lucky Charms $3.99, Saran Wrap $3.29 – $1 coupon, 2 x Old Dutch Chips @ 2/$5 – 2 x $2 coupons and 2 x Buddig @ $0.99 – $0.55 WUB2 and some frosty mugs that were on sale for $1.79 for a set of 4.  Subtotal $16.05 – $1.61 SPC discount – $5.55 coupons = $8.89 plus taxes.

You can order LouLou with a free SPC card at this link and here is a list of stores that offer discounts with the card: (click more if reading on a main page)

Getting the most out of swagbucks

swagpage

There are lots of ways past just using swagbucks as a search engine to help you win SwagBucks.

First, download the toolbar, it allows for easier searching using the searchbox, shows you your total so you know when to cash in and occasionally has special toolbar user codes.  Every day, you get 1SB for using the toolbar, which doesn’t seem like much, but its 562 SB a year or a $5 Amazon GC and points left over!

You can also get another 3SBs daily, for taking part in the daily poll, checking your survey dashboard and checking the No Obligation Special Offers.  That comes close to five $5 Amazon Gift Certificates just checking a few links each day.
