Found the $3 Eversleek coupons!

I have mentioned several times how much I like L’oreal Everpure and the new Eversleek products so I was very happy to see that there was a $3 coupon to be used on any of their line this month, yet no one had found the coupon.  A fellow SmartCanucker mentioned finding them at a Rexall near where she worked and since I was in Toronto yesterday I went in search of this store and coupon.

I tried both stores that were recommended, the Shoppers Drug Mart was impressive but no coupons, the Rexall however was a jackpot hit.  I found the Eversleek coupon, the $4 off Advil Night Time (which is on sale for $3,99 this week at Shoppers Drug Mart so free with coupon), $2 off Selected Nivea products and $3 off Herbashine hair colours which are also on sale this week. Using these coupons alone, I am sure I can get my out of pocket cost for the spend $75 and get 18,500 points at Shoppers this week

In December I switched to a binder system for my coupons, but recently I have found it was getting very heavy and difficult to carry around.  Another SmartCanucker had bought a coupon organiser from glowgirl16 on Etsy and I was wary of it as they looked tiny and I have my huge binder.  Recently, we met in person and looking at all her coupons in it, I realised that it would hold all of mine too.   I used my paypal payment from Great Canadian Rebates so it was free and I choose a mega large and a regular one so I could keep some of my favourite coupons on me without dragging my whole organiser around.

The Mega one holds 1000 coupons and all of the coupons from my binder fit in it without a problem, it has a 15 inch handle to carry it and attaches (opened) to the shopping cart so you can just pull coupons from it as you shop.  It is 4 inches deep across the bottom, 6 inches high and 8 inches wide so I have not had to fold any coupons to fit in it which is great.

The smaller one I bought to keep with me at all times is much bigger than I expected, I thought of it more like a purse but it is 2 inches deep and has 20 dividers so its quite substantial.  I don’t have anywhere near the 400-500 coupons it holds in it so it is not too heavy to keep with me.  Like the mega one, it folds over the shopping cart so you can easily pull coupons out as you shop.

For those with even more coupons than me, she has even bigger sizes with one that is 6 inches deep and a massive double-wide one that is two of the 6 inch ones so you can take every single coupon in existence with you shopping and never miss out on a deal.

A great swagday!

Today was Swagbuck’s birthday and they released many codes and new features.

First was the new blog and the in-page toolbar (not to be confused with the regular toolbar).  You can check out the new blog and toolbar from the blog page, here.  I find the toolbar slows down the page a little but the blog layout is a bit better, as all but the first post are autoshortened so you do not have to scroll past the whole posts to get to older ones.

The other new feature is Facebook Trivia.  You can read about this here.  You can choose whether to win swagbucks or tokens for a spin on the wheels to win more swagbucks.

The Swag Guy and Gal also released many codes today, including a mega 50SB code.

The codes were:

  • 7SBs on the swidget
  • 11SBs on blog
  • 24SBs on SBTV (some users received less as it was time sensitive, the code went down by 3SBs every few minutes)
  • 14SBs on the new chat toolbar

Terrible customer service at Shoppers Drug Mart

Shoppers Drug Mart have a great promo on today, if you spend $50 you get the choice of 10x points or a $20 gift certificate.  Their gift certificates are usually very short on the expiry date as they are not an actual gift card so of course I wanted the points (plus you get points for spending $50 before coupons, the GC is up to the cashier so they need to see the $50 to give it to you).

I had all my coupons ready, knew what I was buying, they had put a limit on one of the items so the revised list would come to $60ish before taxes and I would leave with 12,000 points and use $35 in coupons.  I have done this many times, I KNOW the register gives the 20x points even when you use regular coupons which are legally treated as cash.

The cashier argued with me saying I was better off not using coupons and getting the gift card.  Well what if I was not there for 20x points, what if it was just stuff I needed and that was all the money I had to pay with?  Why would I pay more now to get $20 off useless crap next week?  She argued this with me several times, it was embarrassing!  Then she did not scan my card when given it, she just gave it back to me at the end of the transaction.  Good thing I checked my receipt before leaving.  So I said this to her and she says that the points will all be taken off later anyway and she wants to cash through the other customers first so I refused to move until she did it.

I got my points but SDM Head Office and I are having a nice chat on Monday when the supervisor is back in

$40 Groceries for Under $1

We went to Fortinos last night for most of our ‘real’ groceries since they had great deals on chicken and spent about $25 (plus $3.47 at No Frills for 20lbs potatoes)

  • Quinoa 378g for $2.58 (750g at Sobeys last week was $10.99)
  • Chicken drumsticks (10) $3.78
  • Chicken Thighs (4) x 2 at $2.12 and $2.13
  • Beef stir fry strips $3.02
  • Mushrooms $3.18
  • Broccoli $1.49
  • Peppers $3.22
  • Green Beans $1.17
  • Eggs x 2 $1.69 – $2 WUB2 = $0.69 each
  • Wonder Simply Free Bread $1.99 – $0.75 = $1.24

At Walmart (Thursday night when we can take advantage of the two weeks’ pricing), we got

  • Lucky Charms (family size) $4 (his treat for the week)
  • 4 x Nature Valley (PMed to Food Basics) $1 – $0.99 = $0.01 each
  • 2 x ziplock bags $2 each – $4 WUB2 = FREE

Then today we went to Sobeys to get just milk and Aylmers tomatoes (haha I know).  When we got there, a rep from the Spectator (a local paper) was there and I stopped to ask her about our free trial which has ended but I have not received a subscription notice.  She actually had a better deal than the original one they quoted me plus gave me a $25 certificate towards my groceries.  So we stocked up on some junk food.  Usually I would be pretty unhappy about spending $25.95 (after coupons and clearance discounts) for 12 items (pictured) but admittedly, olive oil is expensive and we were not all that fussy since we were not really paying for it. The milk also had lots of coupons on the back including $5 off when you buy 2 bottles of Sunlight laundry detergent which are on sale for $4.77 this week.

It will be nice to get the local paper again, it always has the inserts with coupons on Thursday instead of Saturday!

Fortinos have a clearance sale on make up so I picked up these two eyeshadows for $2 each and a bottle of Maybelline Super Stay Makeup for $3, they have lots of other stuff, just not in colours that interest me (not surprisingly, there is a ton of the neon yellow eyeshadows left) but check your local store for deals!

As I mentioned in January, I have been using Great Canadian Rebates every time I shop online at a participating retailer.  Today I received my second rebate payment from them, $90.30 with more due in the next round of payments (they wait a certain number of days to ensure you do not return items)

You can earn on ebay, many hotels, airlines, Expedia, Chapters/Indigo and many more stores, if you are spending anyway, you may as well make some money back from it!

Stubble Free Armpits?

No not another free razor brag, this one comes from bzzagent, a word or mouth marketing site where they send you items to test and tell your friends (if you are not a member, sign up here and test stuff for yourself!)

dove02Dove® Ultimate VisiblySmooth™ is the latest product offer to test, and I signed up and was accepted.  According to the info, 99% of women who tested it (for Dove) said they would recommend it to a friend.  I have seen coupons for this in store but am a loyal Secret user (don’t hate me for P&G they practically PAY ME to use their products using coupons, why go elsewhere?).  Dove promises this help make me feel stubble free between shaves (from their ‘pro-epil complex’ and sunflower oil and Dove moisturisers) as well as having 24 hour odour and wetness protection.

They say its is suitable for sensitive skin, not that I have had issues with Dove on the occasions I have used their deodorants and is also available in their clinical strength formula, which I do like.  The regular version retails for $3.80 – $5 and the clinical is comparable to regular clinical strength at $7.99 – $9.99 and obviously cheaper if you wait for a flyer sale and/or use coupons.

More deals today, I could shop all week with the deals this week!

Sobeys have a great promo this week where if you buy two selected Pillsbury products (on sale for $2.50 each) you get a free 2l carton of Natrel milk worth $5.19 (well, worth less but thats how much they are charging this week).  I have a pile of Pillsbury coupons for $1 off pie crusts so 4 packages of 2 pie crusts each cost $6 with coupons and I earned 2 free 2l milk cartons.

They also had a pile of clearance since it appears they will be renovating, they are moving everything around and sections of the store are empty.  So I will be checking it regularly for clearance, they had quite a lot on clearance already but apart from cans of tomato sauce for $0.44 not much interesting.

Other great deals were Quaker Crispy Minis for $0.97, Aylmer Accents for $0.99 (with $0.50 off each using coupons so $0.49) and a pile of new coupons collected!
